So, this past week ended one of the more popular manga that's out there right now, Fairy Tail. Beginning in 2006 by Hiro Mashima-sensei, Fairy Tail was a manga that brought out the best in fighting, rivalry, and friendship. Well, mostly friendship. In fact there's so much friendship that by the end of the series, you're 7/10 most likely to be gagging and washing your mouth with the foulest substance you can find in your kitchen. The Friendship Factor was at such ridiculous levels that it literally had the power to bring back people to life. I could probably count on my fingers the amount of people who died and then remained dead. And let's not get started on the incessant fanservice, since if you write fights revolving around boobs, you're probably doing a very poor copout.
Nevertheless, there was charm in Fairy Tail, despite its flaws. I can't say it was my favorite manga, or the most well-written, or the most desirable to go back to reading in my spare time. But it was a fun read, an enjoyable read with its special kind of campiness that didn't get me annoyed like all of the bullshit did reading the endings of Naruto and Bleach. Because you had a feeling that the Friendship Factor would keep your favorites alive by the end of everything, you just kept looking to the future, for wishing all of the best and other possible things for your favorites. And since the ending was left open-ended, I think in the end we can always return to an adventure with our favorite guild, because friendship always brings open doors.
